Cheltenham Bumper-winner Jody Townend earned her crust in steering Willie MullinsHello Jean to Wexford success today, as the 4/7 favourite battled well to land the concluding Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Bumper.

Carrying similar red & yellow racing silks to her owner Declan Brennan’s Brennan's Bread brand, Townend was caught for pace behind Apples Jade early in the home straight before Hello Jean eventually warmed to the task and scored by 2.25 lengths.

Townend, who recently completed top-level wins on Bambino Fever at Cheltenham and Punchestown, reported "Hello Jean had two good runs, she is as tough as nails but probably wants further.

“It was a 2m4f bumper the last day and only two-miles today, so she was on her head when they quickened. She's tough out though and galloped all the way to the line. She's a stayer.”
