Johannesburg may run at Ascot

Last season`s champion two-year-old Johannesburg could return to action at Royal Ascot, it emerged today.

The Aidan O`Brien-trained colt lost his unbeaten record to Rebelline in the Gladness Stakes at the Curragh last month before finishing a well-beaten eighth in the Kentucky Derby.

'He`d had two tough races and he has had a nice long break. If he is ready in time he could go for the Golden Jubilee Stakes (over six furlongs) at Royal Ascot,' O`Brien said.

And referring to the Kentucky Derby the Ballydoyle trainer added: 'It was a strongly-run race and he couldn`t get back on terms after he lost ground at the start.'
