Johnny's Oasis claims first win under Caffrey Johnny's Oasis (9/4 fav) came from well off the pace to land the one-mile handicap at Dundalk for Ado McGuinness and Adam Caffrey. The latter was happy to sit well off a strong pace set by Drafted before asking his mount to improve down the straight. Moving into third a furlong out, the winner collared Drafted inside the final 50 yards to beat that gallant rival by a length and a half. It was a first win on start number 13 for Jim Fairhurst's three-year-old. McGuinness said: "He has been consistent, but been frustrating. "He was a breeze-up horse (cost 85,000 Euro last year) and he was just very frustrating at times, but at least he has got a win under his belt. "He has run three or four good races and some days you'd expect him to run well and he lets you down. "In all fairness, Adam was very good on him there tonight. They went good and hard and they were sprinting sectionals and I said 'these ain't no sprinters!' "In all fairness, Luke's horse (McAteer on Drafted) stayed going and battled but Adam gave him a very, very good ride." Additional reporting by Michael Graham
