Johnson´s Welsh Warning Over Transcend

Howard Johnson has warned punters that Lord Transcend is not a definite runner in the Coral Welsh National.

The County Durham handler is keen to weigh up all the options for his eight-year-old before deciding whether to tackle the Chepstow marathon on December 27.

'Lord Transcend will not run anywhere unless the ground is soft or heavy,' he said.

'He´s still in the race and we will confirm him, but I just don´t know if he will get three miles five at Chepstow. I think he´s a better horse over three miles on a flat track.'

If Lord Transcend does not line up at the Welsh venue, Johnson could look to run him in the Peter Marsh Chase at Haydock on January 21, a race he won last year.

'We could go back to Haydock, if the ground is soft, or somewhere like that or even to Aintree in the spring if the ground is right,' added Johnson.

Lord Transcend is generally available at 12-1 for the Chepstow feature.
