Jump Boys & Jockey Eile nominated for IFTA's The nominations for the 10th Irish Film and Television Awards (the IFTA's) were announced on Wednesday last with Jockey Eile and Jump Boys both receiving nominations. Jockey Eile, which was produced by Abú Media, aired in late 2012 and followed 20 aspiring jockeys on their journey from an initial selection day at Fairyhouse to the racecourse. Davy Russell and Kevin Manning were involved in the training process and the riders were put through their paces by trainer Tucker Geraghty 'at boot camp' aided by Susanne Macken. The weakest riders were eliminated in each of the first two weeks before being placed with trainers for the next three weeks. After three weeks in the stable the 15 remaining contestants undertook the QR test at RACE / Turf Club and from that 15, those that got got their QR licence competed in the final race run at Naas on November 12th. Audrey Ryan won the series which has been nominated in the Reality TV category alongside Masterchef, ICA Bootcamp and Come Dine With Me. In the Sports category Touchline Media’s 'Jump Boys' has been nominated alongside the Olympics (RTE), the Paralympics (Setanta) and When Ali Came To Ireland (True Films). Jump Boys aired on TG4 in November and gave viewers an insight into the life’s of top National Hunt jockey’s Ruby Walsh, Davy Russell and Barry Geraghty. The award ceremony will take place in Dublin on Saturday February 9th and will be broadcast on RTE One television.
