Paddy Flood, Vincent Finegan, Emma Nagle and Johnny Ward highlighted four Novice Hurdlers to follow on our recent Jump Season Preview Show.

Paddy Flood

Bambino Fever: "She'll win a Supreme (Novices’ Hurdle). I don't think she's your standard slow staying type of a bumper horse.

“I go back to her Leopardstown bumper win. It was amazing. She quickened twice up a hill in Leopardstown with a horse in front of her that was quickening as well. I just thought it was really special.

"She's tough and gritty but she has speed and she can quicken off a good tempo.

"I think she wins the supreme. Yeah, if she can jump, she's my idea of the winner.

“She's four bumpers won. She's hardy. She's straightforward."

Vincent Finegan

El Cairos: “The David Maxwell horse, fifth behind Bambino Fever in the Champion Bumper and got no run - couldn't get going, was getting blocked everywhere, all the way up the straight and finished fifth.

“Was only beaten about five lengths or something then goes to Punchestown and people may remember in Punchestown, it ran all across the track over to the stand side with David Maxwell on it.

“Now it’s gone to Gordon for 410,000gns bought at the sales and we're going to have Jack Kennedy replacing David Maxwell.

“It will be fun to see what this horse can do it could be anything."

Johnny Ward

Davy Crockett: "I really like him. At the prices now he would definitely be my bet for the Supreme.

"He's still a little bit raw at his hurdles. But what I love with a horse is; when his rider goes for a squeeze, there's an immediate turn of foot.

"He’s a nice horse and has been ridden to learn on the job. He's probably been the best horse in the races he's running in, but they haven't necessarily rode him like that.

“They rode him to teach him a bit. He's that nice nippy sort of horse."

Emma Nagle

Kaiser Ball: "One for me outside of the obvious ones is Kaiser Ball. He won a bumper in Fairyhouse very impressively under Tom Costello.

“He was as impressive as you like that day. And the second horse came out and won a maiden hurdle for Barry Connell a few weeks ago and Barry Connell is touting him as a potential Royal Bond horse.

"He'd be the one in my tracker to watch out for. Which novice hurdle race he might go for at this stage - it's hard to know, but he looked like a horse with any amount of ability when he won his bumper."
