Kauto Grand Mogol, a half-brother to the great Kauto Star, returns from two years on the sidelines when lining up for the bumper at Fairyhouse on Sunday.

The Priolo gelding looked a smart prospect when running away with a Limerick bumper in March of 2012 but has not seen the racecourse since.

Liz Doyle is looking forward to getting her charge back in action and is hoping he could develop into a nice novice hurdler for next season.

"He was ready to run last year and was entered at Navan at the end of November," said the Wexford handler.

"He had a slight tendon strain. It was nothing major but it was one of those annoying things.

"I knew we would only get him back in March or April, so we were forced into the bumper route which is not ideal.

"The heavy ground won't be an issue. It's just about getting him out and getting a run so we can learn a bit more about him.

"He should be at least a two-and-a-half mile, if not a three-mile horse. He should improve a bit from the run but will hopefully be fit enough to run well.

"If Punchestown is safe he could go for a winners bumper there."
