Keane collects on Sonoran Six-time champion jockey Colin Keane pegged back a winner on Billy Lee at the head of this season’s championship today, steering the Ger Lyons-trained Sonoran (9/1) to win Navan’s Racing Festival 14th & 15th November Handicap. Keane, with five Group 1 wins in Britain for retained owners Juddmonte Stud this summer, has kept in contention with leader Lee and last year’s champion Dylan Browne McMonagle in recent times and today steered the Sean Jones-owned Sonoran to a length success over Harana . Afterwards trainer Lyons said “on a proper track you ran ride him cold and let him do that, and that’s the right thing for him. If he does too much too soon you can’t ride him like that. When he gets there, he tends to lean a bit left. “Both my horses ran their races and (third-placed) Daler’s turn will come as well, as he’s been very consistent this year.” Quotes from Gary Carson
