Keane hopeful of big run from Irish Oaks mount Jockey Colin Keane will go in search of an Irish Derby/Oaks classic double when he rides the Ger Lyons-trained Cairde Go Deo in Saturday’s Group 1 Juddmonte Irish Oaks at the Curragh. Keane says Cairde Go Deo has improved with racing and believes the daughter of Camelot, who has landed Listed contests at Navan and Leopardstown on her last two outings, has earned her place in the line-up. The three-time Irish champion told journalist Dave Keena: “She’s improved from run to run this year. At home she’s been training very well and she seems to have come on since her last run. “Obviously it looks to be a very good line-up with Mr Gosden’s filly (Emily Upjohn) coming over and it looks like Mrs Harrington’s filly (Magical Lagoon) is going to line up too. If we could be in the three I think it would be a massive run. “She gets the trip very well and loves good ground. She’s a very uncomplicated filly to ride, you can let her bowl along or take a lead. “Obviously she has to improve. She’s a solid Listed/Group 3 filly at the moment and there’s no reason why she can’t improve to get some black type at that level.”
