Kempton & Lingfield both off

There will be no racing in the UK on Wednesday after Kempton and Lingfield fell to snow.

The former was abandoned half-an-hour before a scheduled noon inspection because the track was inaccessible.

Lingfield also fell to snow-related safety issues.

Although the track would have been raceable, four inches of overnight snow left the Surrey venue, and its surrounding areas, treacherous for the general public.

"We've had to abandon on safety grounds," reported clerk of the course Neil MacKenzie Ross.

"We would have been fine to race, but the course is inaccessible due to the conditions.

"I've already spoken to a lot of trainers who would have been unable to make the journey to the track because of the snow."
