Jack Kennedy will ride Zanahiyr for trainer Gordon Elliott in Sunday’s Grade One Chanelle Pharma Irish Champion Hurdle at Leopardstown on day two of the Dublin Racing Festival.

Zanahiyr was runner-up behind Sharjah in his last two runs in Grade One company, going down by just a neck last time out, and Kennedy is looking forward to his ride on the gelding who is improving.

He said: "Yeah, I'm really looking forward to him now. He lost nothing in defeat in Leopardstown at Christmas so fingers crossed for another big run.

"I suppose in the Morgiana (at Punchestown in November) there wasn't much pace in the race. A stronger gallop suited him better the last day in Leopardstown and it nearly all worked out. He ran a great race so we were delighted with him.

"It's a very exciting race and fingers crossed for a big run anyway. It will be nice to have crowds back and it will be a great weekend hopefully."
