Jack Kennedy is hoping Delta Work can strike again at Leopardstown when he lines up in the Paddy Power Irish Gold Cup on Sunday.

The Gordon Elliott-trained gelding bounced back to form when claiming the Savills Chase at the Dublin track over Christmas.

He is aiming for a Grade 1 hat-trick over course and distance having also struck at the top level as a novice at the track.

The Gigginstown gelding battled to a narrow success over Monalee in a tight finish last time and Kennedy is hopeful that there is even more to come from the Network gelding.

“He was very good the last day and there probably should be a little bit of improvement in him from then fitness wise,” said Kennedy.

“You'd be hoping for a good run again but it's a very good race so we'll see how we go.

“A true run race and a consistent gallop is probably ideal for him. A few small things probably didn't go in his favour the last day but he dug deep and won well.

“Leopardstown suits a stayer and people probably don't appreciate how stiff it is. When you turn out of the back and jump the second last you're climbing the whole way to the finish line.”
