Keogh's Down The Glen claims his maiden win Homebred Down The Glen (17/2) gained a breakthrough success on his final start of the year today, landing Galway’s www.swordsecurity.com Nursery for trainer Ross O’Sullivan and jockey Donagh O’Connor. Carrying the colours of owner/breeders John and Anna Mary Kehoe, the son of Gleneagles tracked the leaders and having improved to lead inside the final furlong, finished well to beat Aquilla Star by three lengths. O’Sullivan commented “we were lucky that this opportunity came today as it was either run here or nowhere, so we’re glad to get the win so late in the season. “He has size and scope so we’ll put him away now and he could make a 1m2f-horse next year. He handles that ground, has a good attitude and could make a nice juvenile hurdler. “John and Anna Mary (Kehoe) are in Wexford and bred him themselves. He is out of a mare who won a maiden herself, so she wasn’t bad, and there are two younger half-sisters from her coming along so this makes it more special.”
