Kev makes impressive start for Fahey High Kick Kev made an impressive winning start for Mark Fahey when taking the bumper at Clonmel tonight in fine style. The Maxios gelding won a point-to-point for Garry Aherne at Tallow in February before changing hands for 60,000 euro at the sales four days later. Derek O’Connor, who had partnered him to victory between the flags, was on board again and produced the five-year-old with a sweeping run on the outside to lead turning for home. The 4/1 shot galloped on powerfully down the straight and asserted in the closing stages for a comprehensive six-and-a-half length win over 5/6 favourite World As One. "He is a grand horse and was pretty fit when he came to us, so we haven't been doing a whole lot with him. He is a good horse and Derek reckons his likes that soft ground,” said Fahey. "I'm not sure whether we pop him over a hurdle or put him out now so we'll see.  "Sean O'Gorman did very well picking him out at the sales and today we were hoping to find out where we were with him. I'm delighted it has worked out for Pat (Moran, owner) who has been a lucky man with me and it was worth his while driving down from Castlebar today. "The young lad (O'Connor, who rode his 1,400th point-to-point winner yesterday) gave him a good ride too!" (Quotes by Tom Weekes)
