Kier set for Charlemagne rematch

Kier Park could face a rematch with his Deauville conqueror King Charlemagne in the Stanley Leisure Sprint Cup at Haydock Park next month.

The Michael Jarvis-trained four-year-old finished third, beaten two and a quarter lengths behind King Charlemagne in the Group One Prix Maurice de Gheest, which was run on soft ground.

'I was delighted with him,' Jarvis said today. 'The ground made a big difference to him - he likes some cut.

'The Haydock race would be his target. He could go back to Deauville again but I think we would probably keep him for that.'

Aidan O`Brien has already nominated the Haydock Group One as the next aim for King Charlemagne.
