Kiln evokes memories of famous Bowe family The Harry Kelly-trained Kiln Time came with a well-timed surge to claim the Frankie Dunworth Memorial Handicap Hurdle at Limerick. West Of Carrig skipped into a big lead after the third last in the two-mile-six contest but started to come back in the home straight. Cian Quirke had judged things well on Kiln Time as the 5/1 shot led on the run-in to record a length-and-three-quarters win over Southgate Avenue. John Bowe’s gelding, a son of Sweet Kiln, was recording his third career success. Michael Bowe said afterwards:- "This horse's dam Sweet Kiln and Limestone Lad had the same grandmothers and, some time ago, I got a call from a girl working with pedigrees in Weatherbys, as they are fascinated by Limestone Lad.  "It turns out Limestone Lad was a direct, ten-steps straight-down descendant from Pretty Polly (one of the great British fillies).  "There was no reason why Limestone Lad should have been a good horse as he was by Aristocracy, who was breeding show-jumpers and hunters, so it just goes to show pedigrees carry on and that winners will breed winners. The cross with Aristocracy bred a freak. "This is a good looking horse, he is well built although it took him until now to be able to win races. He is a slow learner but is a hardy horse. "It was close to being the ride of the century today." (Quotes by Tom Weekes)
