Jockey Dan King has a good handle on festival-form at present and today the Galway-hero steered the Denis Hogan-trained Autumn Twist (7/2cf) to win Killarney’s GMIB Handicap Hurdle, for owners Katie & Brian Castle.

King’s Galway Hurdle-victor Putapoundinthejar had defeated today’s winner Autumn Twist to score at Bellewstown’s July festival and, today, the in-form rider produced Autum Twist to lead at the second-last, before beating Moylussa by 4.5 lengths.

King, who also bagged the recent Galway Plate on Willie Mullins’ King Alexander, reported “we were hoping he’d run well, he took me through the race and did it nicely. Today’s flatter track suited him better than when running on the Flat at Galway the last day and today we went a nice gallop, which suited.

“Hopefully he can build on this.”
