Kingsmark to miss Hennessy Impressive Haydock winner Kingsmark will definitely miss a crack at the Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup, it was confirmed today.Trainer Martin Todhunter reported the gallant eight-year-old gelding was in fine form after landing the Edward Hanmer Memorial Chase (Limited Handicap) for the second year running yesterday. The grey was an 11-2 chance when scoring under David Dennis by one and three quarter lengths to beat Banker Count, with the favourite Behrajan a similar distance back in third.'He has come out of the race very well. I am delighted with him,' said Todhunter.'I won`t run him for about four or five weeks. He definitely doesn`t run in the Hennessy. It would be too soon for him,' he added.Kingsmark was a beaten favourite in last year`s Hennessy and weakened to finish sixth behind King`s Road, from the Nigel Twiston-Davies stable. This year`s renewal of the Newbury race is on December 1st so a more likely target is the Tommy Whittle Chase at Haydock on December 15th.The race seemed particularly suitable for Kingsmark because he was clearly suited by Haydock, added Todhunter.'Plans for him are a bit up in the air. We will campaign him round Haydock and enter him for the Scottish and English Nationals and see which one has good ground,' he said.
