Kitten Rock set for spell on sidelines Kitten Rock, second in the Grade Three Grimes Hurdle at Tipperary on his sole outing this year, will not be seen in action again until 2018. That July effort behind fellow JP McManus runner, Plinth, was Kitten Rock's first run since he took a fall when competing in a chase at Navan last December. "It'll be after Christmas anyway - early in the new year," was the estimation of McManus' racing manager Frank Berry as to a comeback date for the French-bred. One from four since launched over fences, Kitten Rock was a Grade Two winner over hurdles and arguably reached a high at that discipline when less than 10 lengths behind Faugheen in sixth place in the 2015 Champion Hurdle. Though his most recent run would have to be viewed as encouraging, it came at a cost, as Berry reflected: "He didn't come out of it the best - it's nothing major but it'll hold him up for a couple of months."
