Knight Eagle joins Doyle

Trainer Eoin Doyle is due to introduce smart Flat performer Knight Eagle at Gowran Park on Wednesday, should the meeting go ahead.

Formerly trained on the Flat by Kevin Prendergast, Knight Eagle was third in the November Handicap from a rating of 97 on his latest run and the three year old gelding is set to have his first run for his new trainer shortly.

Speaking on Monday, Doyle stated "I have Knight Eagle for two months now and he has settled in well."

He added "he has schooled well over hurdles and while ground conditions at Gowran, should it even go ahead, may not be ideal, I would be hoping his ability should see him through it.

"We bought him with hurdling in mind, but while his Flat mark is high enough, we are thinking about sending him to the Dubai Festival in the new year. However, we''ll have to wait and see how he gets on hurdling and if Wednesday's Gowran meeting doesn't go ahead, he will run over Christmas at Leopardstown next Monday or at Limerick the following day,"

Doyle, who has trained 19 winners already this season, added "Christmas isn't my busiest time fo year but I should have six or eight runners over the period. Like most trainers, I've been held up with the frost but try to get my horses out on the gallops in the afternoons."
