Knight Leaning Away From Gold For Impek

Henrietta Knight has virtually ruled out a crack at the totesport Cheltenham Gold Cup with King George VI Chase third Impek.

Although the 10-year-old is among the 64 entries for chasing´s showpiece event, Knight is leaning towards tackling the shorter Ryanair Chase over two miles and five furlongs.

Impek has only won up to three miles so far and Knight is mindful of the fact that three and a quarter miles on an undulating course would stretch his stamina.

She said: 'We´ll have to wait and see, but my initial thoughts are the Ryanair Chase would be favourable.

'Two miles and five furlongs around Cheltenham makes more appeal than the thought of him going the Gold Cup distance.'

Impek is a 40-1 chance with Ladbrokes for the Gold Cup.
