Knight on the mark again

In-form trainer Henrietta Knight posted her ninth success in the last 14 days with victories for Lucky Bay and Chalmers Place at Wincanton this afternoon.

Knight was absent but her assistant Bridget Nicholls said: 'All the horses are running well and it seems we are going through a little purple patch so let`s hope it carries on into the weekend with the likes of Best Mate and Edredon Bleu running.'

Lucky Bay rallied back past Shareef to lift the Castle Cary Novices` Hurdle in the hands of Jim Culloty.

The winning gelding sports the colours also carried by top chaser Lord Noelie, who is on target for the Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup at Newbury next week.

Chalmers Place, also partnered by Culloty, defied top weight to take the Hamilton Litestat Showcase Handicap Chase after moving to the head of affairs three fences out and galloping 13 lengths clear of Handyman.

Tony McCoy was also in double form as he steered Image De Marque to an effortless victory in the New Forest Commoners Novices` Handicap Hurdle and Noble Justice, who scored over fences at the first time of asking to win the Guinness Novices` Chase.

Kadarann took advantage of an adventurous piece of race-planning to land a nice prize at Warwick today.

The Paul Nicholls-trained son of Bigstone was the winner of the Stg£10,000 Highflyer Bloodstock Four Year Old Novices` Chase, the first such contest restricted to horses of that age group for well over a decade.

The race was framed as an experiment between the racecourse and the British Horseracing Board with the promise of similar contests in the future if all went well.

Only five horses went to post but all of them jumped well throughout and the race produced a thrilling finish as Kadarann and Joe Tizzard got back up to beat Tysou by three-quarters of a length.

Nigel Twiston-Davies sent out a 41-1 double at the track, kicked off by Pettree who won his first race in the Metro Boys Handicap Chase.

The double was completed when Shelayly took the EBF Crandon Park Stud Mares` Only Novices` Hurdle.
