Knight primed for Leopardstown raid Roger Charlton will be represented by Decorated Knight in the ICON Meld Stakes at Leopardstown on Thursday evening. Formerly trained by Roger Varian, he has had three starts for Charlton this season and progressed each time. Fourth at Ascot in April, he won a Listed contest at Goodwood before just being touched off by Tullius in a Group Three at Epsom in June. The Beckhampton handler said: "It looks like Portage will turn up and he would be favourite but Decorated Knight is second in and the weather suggests there will be a sound surface, which is to his liking. "It is currently good to firm with a mainly dry week, although you never know with the mountains to the west. "He seems in very good nick."
