Knockgraffon wins the battle of the kings

The concluding Tipper Road (Pro-Am) INH Flat Race at Naas was a well-contested event that was run off in very testing conditions and the Beneficial gelding (his second winner on the card following on from Benash ) Knockgraffon King proved strongest under Nina Carberry.

Second in the market behind the well-backed Dantes King , the Noel Meade trained winner saw off his aforementioned rival fairly and squarely after the favourite secured a passage up the rail to deliver his challenge.

Meade said: "He is a nice horse that stays well. He is from the same family as Denman and it took him a long time to come to himself. He was a big baby when he ran last year (runner-up to Priests Road at Fairyhouse last April).

"He was a little keen early today and I don't think he'll run in another bumper. I'll run him in a couple of hurdles and he'll go over fences then."
