Kotkijet is a name for jumps fans to watch out for next season after the six-year-old ran away with the Gras Soveye Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris, the French Gold Cup, at Auteuil this afternoon.

Trained by 11-times champion jumps trainer Jean-Paul Gallorini, Kotkijet challenged favourite First Gold at the third-last fence and went away to score readily from Ilare.

First Gold, the winner of the King George VI Chase and Martell Cup in England last season, faded dramatically on the run-in to finish back in fifth.
