Kyprios hopefully on track for Ascot after Saval Beg win Kyprios warmed up for his bid to win a third Gold Cup at Royal Ascot next month by recording his 17th career win in the Group 3 Saval Beg Levmoss Stakes at Leopardstown, although it was not without some drama. The star stayer was sent off a red-hot 1/14 shot against four rivals and was pushed along to head stablemate Mont St Michel under two furlongs from home. The seven-year-old was ridden out by Ryan Moore inside the final furlong to beat Dallas Star by a length and a half with Satin a length and a quarter further back in third. Aidan O’Brien said, “He did exactly as he always does and that should put him right for Ascot. “Ryan was happy that he did everything he asked of him. He’s an incredible horse really.” However, O’Brien was a bit concerned about how he was moving afterwards saying, “He came back in perfect and when he went to walk off (out of the winner’s enclosure) he was moving a little bit gingerly in front. “We’ll check him out and obviously he’s scanned and xrayed before he runs every day. Hopefully it’s just a sprung shoe or something like that.”
