Large crowd at Listowel on Ladies Day The welcome arrival of the sun on Ladies Day at Listowel resulted in the biggest attendance of the week with 27,808 racegoers enjoying some favourable results on the eight race mixed card. This compares very favourably with the 24,605 racegoers that went through the turnstiles on day six of the Festival meeting last year (up 13%). The attendance is just 2,000 short of the track record on this day two years ago. The large Ladies Day attendance also gave the betting ring something of a lift compared with poor figures earlier in the week. The bookmakers turnover was down just 6% at €892,185 as against €952,840 on the Friday of the Festival last year. There were 81 bookies in attendance, which was four more than the same day 12 months ago. The Tote aggregate suffered a bit more and at €228,366 was down over 16% compared with €273,326 on the corresponding day last year.
