Le Fanu finally gets off the mark for Walsh Le Fanu (11/1), making his 18th start, toughed it out to deny Illtakehimyself for trainer Brendan Walsh and jockey Josh Williamson, who has enjoyed a fine start to the new season in Ireland. The 10-year-old son of Ocovango delivered two good jumps at the last couple of flights and edged ahead on the run-in to record his first success on the track by winning by two and a quarter lengths. Speaking after the race, trainer Brendan Walsh said: "He is consistent, the bit of juice in the ground helped him and the trip suited. Josh rode him the last day, so knows him now and I didn't have to tell him a lot today. He rides well and had ridden a winner for me previously as an amateur. "Dermot and his son Richard (Walsh, owners) have been good supporters of mine and they have been patient with this horse, as he had issues on-and-off with things. He'll win again, as he has found out how to do it now." (Quotes from Tom Weekes)
