Legends race at Chepstow today Charities to benefit from Chepstow Racecourse's Jump Legends Raceday today. Two racing related charities, the Bob Champion Cancer Trust and Spinal Research, benefit from Chepstow Racecourse's Jump Legends Raceday today (Saturday, October 12). The Bob Champion Cancer Trust and Spinal Research are the charity partners for the day which features a Jump Legends charity Flat race at 1.55pm, a parade of equine legends and eight further races. Both charities have already received donations of £5,000 from The Reuben Foundation, founded by the Reuben Brothers who own Arena Racing Company, Chepstow Racecourse's parent company. Bet Victor and John Deer, owner of top Flat racehorse Al Kazeem, through his nearby Oakgrove Stud are co-supporting the Jump Legends race and their sponsorship includes a donation to the charities. Additionally, the charities are raising money from online donations, a raffle and bucket collections. It is hoped they can generate over £20,000 from the day. There are 10 former jump jockeys in the Jump Legends Flat race over a mile and seven furlongs. A current legend, 18-time champion jump jockey, A P McCoy, will officially start the charity contest. McCoy is riding later during the afternoon. The Jump Legends participants are Carl Llewellyn, Brendan Powell, Jimmy Frost, Adrian Maguire, Graham Bradley, Jim Culloty, Jimmy McCarthy, Kevin Mooney, Richard Rowe and Luke Harvey. Their mounts will be provided by trainers including Paul Nicholls, Nigel Twiston-Davies and Alan King. The parade of equine legends includes the great four-time World Hurdle winner Big Buck's plus Grand National victors Comply Or Die and Neptune Collonges. The gates open at noon, with the Jump Legends charity Flat race due off at 1.55pm and the main programme of races starting at 2.25pm.
