< Gleneagles was made to work hard to justify 4-7 favouritism in the Group Three Japanese Racing Authority Tyros Stakes at Leopardstown.

Aidan O'Brien's charge was held up last of the three runners in the early stages by Joseph O'Brien, and the trio formed a line at the furlong marker.

Gleneagles proved just the stronger in the closing stages, coming home just ahead of Tombelaine

O'Brien's John F Kennedy has been lurking at the top of the betting for next year's Classics before even setting foot on a racecourse, but he had to settle for second behind Hall Of Fame in the Frank Conroy EBF Maiden.

Jim Bolger's 6-1 chance was always to the fore under Kevin Manning, and after shooting clear over a furlong out, he was not to be denied, beating the odds-on favourite by two and a half lengths.< Jack Naylor produced a strong late run to get up close home and land the Jockey Club Of Turkey Silver Flash Stakes.

Jessie Harrington's filly (14-1) had plenty of ground to make up entering the home straight, but she responded well to Fran Berry's urgings to reel in long-time leader Qualify and fend off the fast-finishing Agnes Stewart by a length and a half.

Eddie Lynam may have been disappointed with Agnes Stewart's defeat, but he gained some compensation thanks to Mr Snagsby s gutsy effort in the Sharon Shannon Big Band Handicap.

The 6-4 favourite set sail for home a fair way out under Wayne Lordan, and though Landau was eating up the deficit in the closing stages, Lynam's charge had half a length in hand at the line.< Mezogiorno (10-1) landed the Morocco SOREC Apprentice Handicap for trainer Mick Halford and jockey Conor Hoban, while the Korean Racing Authority Handicap went the way of Strandfield Lady (14-1) for Harry Rogers and Connor King.
