Liadawn wins Listed bumper for the Mullins The 8/11 favourite Liadawn landed the concluding Listed mares' bumper at Gowran Park for Willie and Patrick Mullins. The grey daughter of Jukebox Jury had easily won a Downpatrick bumper on her first outing in June. Here, she sat second as Mullins charted a wide course and was followed around towards the outer by all of the other riders, except Derek O'Connor on front-runner Courtmac Gesture who raced alone on the inner. Liadawn led two furlongs out but was followed through by Maximillian Lady who gained a narrow lead over a furlong out. The winner found plenty for pressure, though, and regained the lead inside the final furlong to score by two lengths. The five-year-old races in the colours of the Gorm Agus Ban Syndicate whose members were out in force to cheer her home. “She got headed but she’s very tough,” said Patrick Mullins. “She has a fantastic pedigree; we lease them off Jock O’Connor. I won this bumper on her dam (Snag List) 10 years ago and we’ve had Nikini, who is her aunt, and Williamstown Dancer, who is her sister. “They are all black-type mares. Anne and Margaret and Jock O’Connor do a fantastic job cultivating the family. “This time last year Sara (partner) was in labour with Wynter (daughter) and this is Wynter’s first winner to be at, it took us a year to get here. “She’s a good mare and we might look at Cheltenham in November.” When asked if she would stay in bumpers this season, he added:- “I think so but we’ll have a think about it. We might go to Cheltenham first and see.”   Additional reporting by Gary Carson
