Lincoln lands Curragh opener Abraham Lincoln justified favouritism in the opening Keadeen Hotel Irish EBF Maiden at the Curragh when making a winning debut for Aidan O’Brien. The Wootton Bassett colt went to post an 11/8 shot and tracked the leaders under Ryan Moore in the six-furlong contest. He was asked to close passing the two pole and wandered a touch when hitting the front over a furlong from home. With the rail to guide him late on he kept on well to score by a length-and-three-quarters from stablemate Haffner. “He is a lovely horse; still very green. He hadn't been asked much at home but he was working classy. We are very happy,” said O’Brien. "This fella will be very comfortable going up to seven (furlongs), up to a mile. “Ryan just said that when he asked him to go, he got there very quickly. He just ended up being there probably much earlier than he wanted but then he said he was only looking around, he was very green. I'd say he's probably classy.  "He'll be very comfortable going up to races like the Tyros, the Futurity and those type of races. It's nice to have a run into him now and, you'd be very happy really." The winner was given a 33/1 quote for next year's 2,000 Guineas by Paddy Power. They quickly trimmed it into 20/1.
