Lizzie Twigg does it easily on hurdling debut Ridden by Kevin Sexton, Lizzie Twigg (13/2) was an emphatic winner of the second division of Punchestown's two-mile maiden hurdle. A bumper winner first time out on St Patrick's Day at Down Royal, the daughter of Poet's Word was making her first appearance over timber and tracked the leaders until getting a nice run through on the inner to lead after two out. Coolishael, bidding to give Ross O'Sullivan his third winner of the afternoon, briefly looked a threat early in the straight but Lizzie Twigg soon had his measure and cleared away to score by eight and a-half lengths. The five-year-old races in the colours of winning trainer Gordon Elliott who said "She’s a good mare. She won her bumper and I ran her too quick then in Fairyhouse. “She jumped well there today and we're delighted. “We’ll look for some black-type now, that would be important. “She’s for sale and is a nice mare going forward.” Additional reporting by Gary Carson
