The Michael Grassick-trained Lohoobb (7/2) benefited from a step up in trip and the adaptation of positive tactics to win the FINAL FURLONG PODCAST With 1XBET Handicap at Gowran Park.

Previously trained by Owen Burrowes, the bay had struggled in his first two Irish starts, making this his first success in ten starts.

The son of Too Darn Hot broke from stall one, picked up the lead after a furlong, and quickened off the front two furlongs out.

Under Billy Lee, the three-year-old colt kept on well under pressure and never looked in danger, scoring by one and three-quarter lengths from the well-supported Indigo Dream (13/2 - 4/1). The 2/1 favourite Little Empire was a further two and a quarter lengths back in third.

"A good draw suited. There is probably a front-running bias today. He's done it well. He jumped nicely, travelled really well, carried me all the way into the straight and, when I picked him up, he picked up really well. He wasn't winning out of turn,” commented Lee.

“I thought he ran well the first day in Naas and he wasn't beaten far the last day. I probably just sat a bit long on him and he never got going and he just kept going to the line.

"I'm very happy today that he's had a win. It's only his third run for Michael. Those sharp tracks probably suit him, so hopefully he'll win another."
