Louis De Foix impresses with Leopardstown debut win Paddy Twomey introduced a potentially smart colt in the shape of Louis De Foix who overcame greenness to make a winning debut in the Irish EBF (C & G) Maiden at Leopardstown. Well supported from 9/2 into 6/4jf, the Tony Bloom owned son of New Bay was held up in mid division by Billy Lee in the first half mile of the race. Making headway on the outside over two-furlongs out, Louis De Foix still had more in front than behind him but stayed on strongly from over a furlong out to mow down fellow market leader Mount Meru close home for a three-quarter-length success. Winning trainer Twomey said: "He's a big horse. I haven't done much with him but anything I did he's done easily. At halfway I was still confident he'd come home well but didn't think he'd win. I wasn't surprised that he had the class to win it. He's a lovely horse. I think he could be a classy horse next year. He's had his run now and he's after winning so we'll deal with next year next year."
