O'Gorman was keen to lead early and got ahead of the prominent Paddy Twomey-trained Forthill, and this allowed the Oliver McKiernan-trained runner to get a run on his rivals. The onrushing Vervain could not get to the winner, as the daughter of Acclamation was narrowly denied by a head. "It was brilliant, he travelled lovely," said O'Gorman.
