Having enjoyed a tremendous campaign on the Flat over the summer months, Cavan trainer Patrick Magee sent out his first jumps winner of the new season when Mystic Rose landed a gamble in the opening Sligo Fillies Maiden Hurdle.

Prominent throughout under jockey Josh Williamson, the well- backed 8/1 chance (from 28/1 on the show) went second after jumping the penultimate flight.

Leading at the last, the daughter of Belardo went clear on the run-in to score by seven lengths from Look At You .

Josh Williamson reported: "She was a little bit tricky to post, but I had been well informed about her, and she was grand during the race. She was flat out for the first half mile, then they steadied it up and I had a good run around.

"She jumped very well and put it to bed quickly, she was able to put her bit of Flat speed to use.

"She seems to have improved for the slightly softer ground. I would describe it as yielding, and soft in a few places."
