Man strikes again for Barcoe Theanniversary Man stuck his neck out late on to secure victory in the concluding Greenvalley Transport Novice Handicap Hurdle at Cork. Jimmy Barcoe’s charge went to post a 5/1 shot to follow up on his success at Thurles 10 days ago. He travelled well to challenge two from home, under Daniel King, and was sent to the front running down to the last flight. "Brilliant" Win in Memory of Mikey O'Connor The French Navy gelding had to pull out all the stops in the closing stages, as Rowdy pressed hard, to win by a neck. The race was run in memory of Mikey O’Connor and Barcoe said afterwards:- "It is brilliant to win this race as I rode in point-to-points with Mikey and it is a terrible tragedy what happened. It was important for Dylan (his jockey son) to be here and hopefully he can continue his father's legacy." "Hard to Buy" Horse Continues to Improve He added:- "I'm always looking to buy a horse like this one, although it is hard to buy them. He is improving, is still quite green and Dan was brilliant on him again. "There are often a lot of unexposed horses in these novice handicaps and he was stepping up in trip. He attitude was brilliant and it is great that he has won on that testing ground. It won't get much worse than that, so we'll see how he is before making a plan. "The horses' owners, the Joyce family, are from across the road where they run a garden centre, so this is great." (Quotes by Tom Weekes)
