Manton Bay completes quick double for connections Luke McAteer, David Marnane and owners MRC International teamed up for a quick double at Dundalk when Manton Bay got up on the line to take the Irish Stallion Farms EBF (C&G) Maiden. The Ulysses colt finished well on debut over six furlongs at the Curragh and really appreciated the step up to a mile here. The 12/1 chance made headway when getting an opening over a furlong out and kept on well under pressure to lead close home for a head verdict over Grand Premiere. Minella Rockett held every chance a further three-quarters of a length back in third. Marnane said, “Nothing kind of went right in the early part of the race. He's very raw and we haven't a lot done with him. "Lovely eye-catching run in the Curragh, he stepped forward from it. We haven't really done much with him since the Curragh, to be honest. "I'd say he has a lot of scope, he grew a lot in the last sort of month, and he is definitely going to make some helluva three-year-old. I think he is going to be a good horse. "No, he's not in the sales. We sell the odd one privately. He's a real three-year-old type and is one we are looking forward to. "He is by Ulysses and will get further. Fingers crossed, he might get into a nice horse next year." McAteer and Marnane also landed the Listed Irish Stallion Farms EBF Cooley Fillies Stakes with Aviatrice (7/2). Quotes by Michael Graham
