Marnane eyes Ascot raid with Jamesie The Gigaset International Stakes at Ascot on King George day is likely to be Jamesie's target after a good run at Chester. David Marnane's stalwart also has the option of the Stewards' Cup at Goodwood a week later but the handler feels his charge probably needs seven furlongs to be seen at his best these days. "The rain came at the wrong time for Jamesie last week, he just doesn't like soft ground," said Marnane. "He's gone back up to a mark of 107 which is nearly a career-high once more. "He's in at Ascot in the International off his old mark of 102 so that is probably where he'll go next. "We've also still got him in the Stewards' Cup and he went close to winning that a few years ago (sixth, 2012). "We'll see, but I think these days he needs seven furlongs to be seen at his best."
