Castleblaney trainer Anthony McCann and jockey Aine O'Connor have a good record when teaming up in bumpers and landed the last at Downpatrick with Martymill (15/8).

The Getaway gelding, runner-up at Listowel before finishing sixth at the Galway festival, headed 13/8 favourite Culldoo over a furlong out and strode clear up the hill to score readily by 11 lengths.

"A lovely, strong performance," said O'Connor

"He is wearing cheekpieces and might be deemed to be ungenuine - he's actually not, he's just very immature.

"To be honest, he has just improved with every run.

"He's a nicer-ground horse, which we got today.

"He actually tends to be a little bit funny in a bigger field, so everything went right for him today. Small fields suit him.

"We went a nice gallop, and he gave me a great feel.

"Anthony had him in tip-top form and he bounced him out quick. It was a great training performance, if anything.

"He is a nice horse and he absolutely will (build upon that), he has built upon every run bar one or two where he has had excuses. He's one to look forward to."
