Matron Stakes on agenda for Bethrah

Bethrah is likely to return to action in the Coolmore Fusaichi Pegasus Matron Stakes at Leopardstown on September 4th.

Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum's filly has had a break since winning the Irish 1000 Guineas at the Curragh in May and is being prepared for an autumn campaign.

"Bethrah is in great form. She has enjoyed her break, she has come back and I'll be speaking to Angus Gold about it. He'll be speaking to Sheikh Hamdan," her trainer Dermot Weld told At The Races.

"I would say possibly the Matron Stakes at Leopardstown would be her next race."

The Curragh-based handler has also nominated next race targets for Ascot Gold Cup hero Rite Of Passage and Profound Beauty, whose long-term objective is the Melbourne Cup.

"Profound Beauty in all probability will run next in the Yorkshire Oaks and Rite of Passage I'd say will go for the Irish St Leger. We've won that race six times and I'd like to win a seventh," Weld added.
