Trainer John McConnell expects to have a strong representation at his local Belllewstown racecourse at next months festival.

McConnell, who traditionally does well at the three-day meeting each year, has a number of exciting prospects lined up for the 2026 renewal.

Speaking at Down Royal after saddling a winner on Saturday, he said: "I'll have a few horses for Bellewstown.

"I've a nice bumper filly, Kingside Lady, that we bought in the point-to-point sale at Fairyhouse a couple of weeks ago. So far, she has done everything well. I think the owner normally comes home around the time of Bellewstown.

"Intense Approach might run in a Flat race in Bellewstown and might end up in Galway after that. He probably wouldn't get into the Plate, but he might get into the Blazers. The way he works at home you would always think he would have a chance in a Flat race. He could end up in a maiden at Bellewstown. We'll see how the first Flat run goes and go from there."
