McCoy must wait for the 100 Priceless Art was backed as if defeat were out of the question as he attempted to give Tony McCoy his 100th winner of the season in the Desco Derby Novices' Hurdle at Sedgefield. The 1/2 shot was in trouble from some way out though whilst the free-going morning plunge horse Fantastic Strike folded tamely as the runners approached the business end. Shifting Gold at 14/1 was the one to see it out best for Kevin Ryan in the hands of Irish conditional Brian Toomey. He was only a 5/1 shot in betting forecasts in the morning papers but despite being friendless in the market, the Night Shift gelding, equipped with a tongue-tie and blinkers, got the job done. McCoy's mount Priceless Art could only plug on for third place.
