McCreery doubles up at Down Royal Navy Waters (18/5, from 5s before the off) completed a quick Down Royal double for Willie McCreery when landing the Coors Fillies Handicap under Nathan Crosse. A maiden winner at this track earlier in the season and third at the Galway festival on her most recent start, the grey daughter of U S Navy Flag tracked the leaders but Crosse just had to wait for racing room on the run downhill towards the final quarter-mile. A gap appeared over a furlong out and the winner quickly came through it to lead inside the final furlong before staying on well to account for the Ulster Cesarewitch winner Alba Chiara by a length and a half. McCreery, successful with Love Bomb in the opener, trains Navy Waters for her breeder Miceal Martin Sammon. Winning rider Crosse said: "She has toughed it out well, we got the run of it. She jumped out very nicely and got into the box seat. Colin (Keane on leader No Niki No) got it quite handy and, where I was, I got it quite handy. "We all got going and I was just biding my time waiting for an out. In fairness to the filly, when I got her out and got a bit of daylight, she stretched well. "She's quite versatile, she tries very hard. She just wears the visor as she can just have a little look, she's not ungenuine. She galloped the whole way to the line and I'm delighted. "If you saw her there, she's a big filly and when she fills out that frame and strengthens up again, she will be a smashing filly for next year. "I think she would get a little bit further, but the mile five there today was the furthest she has gone and the best she has run. If she strengthens up, she could get further next year."
