Running in her first handicap, Love Bomb (5/1) was a snug winner of the opening Molson Coors Beverage Company Nursery at Down Royal.

Trained by Willie McCreery for his wife Amanda, the homebred Bungle Inthejungle filly tracked the pace on the outer before improving to lead a furlong out.

Despite running green in front, the winner wasn't hard pressed to beat Final Melody by a length and a quarter.

Winning rider Billy Lee said: "Willie has had all the family, obviously, breeding and all that.

"She's sharp and she has always been sharp but, just in the maidens, they were probably just a little bit above her.

"She has got stronger too as the year has gone on. "She jumped well today and travelled easy all the way. I was after taking her back just before the road just not to get there too soon. In fairness, when I let her down, she picked up nicely and ran all the way to the line.

"Even going down, she was having a look at everything so you would expect improvement.

"She is very speedy and that ground is probably as slow as she would want it, she wouldn't want it much slower. Might be one for the all-weather as well.

"It was a good performance and hopefully there is a bit more to come.

"I'd say five (furlongs) is probably her trip at the moment, maybe six next year. She has an awful lot of speed and a great cruise, so I'd say just keep to five for the moment."
