McEvoy reflects on a job well done at Naas Naas manager Eamonn McEvoy was well pleased with how yesterday’s meeting went at the County Kildare track. The first fixture back after the 76-day break, owing to the Covid-19 lockdown, saw excellent fare on offer during an eight race programme. “In general I was very happy — everyone played ball doing what we asked so it was pretty good,” said McEvoy. “I was very happy with the standard of racing. It was great to see good horses racing — that’s why we’re all in this game. “That’s very important. I’d say we’ll see a few of the winners head for Ascot — that’s what Naas always wants to see.” As regards the health screening procedures for admittance to the track McEvoy reflected: “I heard no complaints. “It’s a very good system — very practical. Being cost efficient with procedures that work. “The HRI staff, the ground-staff, the HRI staff in the office doing all the planning — they’ve had to re-plan the whole year — and the IHRB, the work these guys have done has been top-class. “Jennifer Pugh, Pat Brennan, Sharlene O’Reilly, Darren Lawlor, Niall Cronin, Paul Murtagh — I don’t want to forget anyone — the effort they have made, they’ve put in miles and miles, doing Trojan work.”
