McGarvey hoping Ardanza appeal goes his way Jody McGarvey is hoping Vina Ardanza can get a decision at an appeal after a controversial finish at Killarney last Sunday. The Gordon Elliott-trained gelding lost out by just a nose in the Gerard O'Sullivan Memorial Novice Chase after being hampered by winner Saldier at the final fence. Stewards on the day left the placings unaltered but McGarvey feels the incident at the last cost him the race. "From a riding point of view, there was no issue there - Saldier jumped violently right in the air and hampered my horse. I've lost a length and got beaten by a nose,” said McGarvey. "In my book, if I didn't lose a length I would have won. I was confident going into the enquiry that I would win it, but I didn't. "The stewards on the day are doing their job and I'm doing mine. There is going to be an appeal in the coming days, so fingers crossed we will see what happens." (Quotes by Michael Graham)
