Jody McGarvey is facing up to a spell on the sidelines after being injured in a fall at Limerick on St Stephen's Day.

He hurt his neck and his chest in a tumble from the Patrick Neville-trained Hand Of The King at the third-last fence in a handicap chase.

He was stood down for a minimum of 10 days and is under consultant orthopaedic surgeon Mr Paddy Kenny.

"Jody had a very heavy fall. He's got soft tissue injuries to his neck and his upper chest," said Dr Adrian McGoldrick, the Irish Turf Club's senior medical officer.

"He was seen by Mr Kenny on Wednesday and has been stood down for a minimum of 10 days.

"It will be reviewed by Mr Kenny and taken from there.

"I suspect he could be out for longer. He's in a lot of pain in his neck and upper thoracic spine. He could be off for up to a month."
