McManus-winner enjoys rub of the green

Champion owner J.P. McManus and champion trainer Willie Mullins combined for Fairyhouse doubles today as Sa Majeste (11/10f) enjoyed the rub of the green when landing the Easter Festival 19th - 21st April Rated Chase.

Sa Majeste, under Paul Townend, had led for much of the race but was headed by strong-travelling Affordale Fury after the second-last. However that rival blundered badly at the final fence which presenting Sa Majeste with the lead, as the winner kept on for a three-parts-of-a-length success.

McManus’ racing manager Frank Berry said “it looked like we had a bit of luck on our side.

“He got well outclassed in the race at Limerick and was in calmer waters today so it’s nice to get him back winning.

“He jumped away grand and we’ll see where he goes from here. He handles that ground very well and we’ll look at some of those staying chases with him.”

McManus and Mullins had earlier won with the Mark Walsh-partnered Zenta
